What? It’s been six months since I updated my note at Pitstop? That can’t be, it seems like only yesterday……
It’s the end of 2002, and it’s been a great year for Pitstop. We were profitable each and every month of the year. And we are not resting on our laurels, we’ve been re-investing these profits right back into the business, to make a stronger and more powerful PC Pitstop.
I want to bring you up to date on some of the exciting changes we’ve made in the last six months of 2002.
CompUSA -Perhaps the most noticable change is our new partnership with CompUSA. They are one of the largest computing retailers in the United States, but I bet you didn’t know that they also have an awesome shopping web site. We also worked with CompUSA to come up with a new extended warranty and support product at a special price for Pitstop users. Since the PC has already been through the Pitstop diagnostics, we can assure CompUSA that it is better-than-average shape and hence offer a special price for you.
McAfee – We are working directly with McAfee to develop new antivirus technologies. We have developed the new McAfee FreeScan which uses the same signature file as McAfee’s flagship antivirus product. Although the download is quite large, it is worth it for those of you with a broadband connection.
The Pit – The PC Pitstop Forum, nicknamed The Pit by our regulars, is the coolest place on the net to discuss PC problems and issues, or just to make new friends from all around the world. We’ve recently upgraded our BBS software to accommodate more users and more posts, and given it a brand new look. If you’ve got a PC problem that’s been bugging you, the solution will most likely be at The Pit.
Spyware – We’ve just started putting together the pieces for our Spyware detection. Spyware is insidious software that tracks your PC usage and reports this information back to its creators. Not only does spyware invade your privacy, but it often hurts your system’s performance and reliability. We have plans to make the Spyware detection much more visible, but right now, after running the main tests, look at your running program lists to determine if you have any spyware. (From the Summary page, click the Windows details link and scroll to the Running Programs section.)
Paraphenalia – And here’s the biggest news of all. We’ve just opened up the PC Pitstop Paraphenalia Store.
Here we’re selling all kinds of cool things with the Pitstop logo: shirts, mugs, caps, stickers, and more! A portion of the proceeds goes directly to PC Pitstop. So come on and show your colors!
As 2002 comes to an end, we, at PC Pitstop, have a lot to be thankful for. We are very thankful for our many customers and advertisers. We are also very thankful to all of our regulars at The Pit. And most importantly, we are very thankful for YOU, our users that continue to spread the word that PC Pitstop is the best place on the net to service your PC.
Here’s to a great 2003,
Rob Cheng
