State Forest Department of India was left offline after ransomware struck their systems…
It is being reported as the first of it’s kind by New Indian Express. Ransomware hit the Forest Department of Thiruvananthapuram, India, taking down 20 of their computers at its headquarters. The attack took place earlier this year, mid-March to be exact.
Reports claim the ransomware RSA-4096 is what took the computers down. There was a ransom demand made; however the amount was not disclosed. Officials reported trying for a month to restore their systems, although ended up being unsuccessful. The end result was the department cutting their losses, and increasing security.
