Lenovo Recalls 83k ThinkPad X1 Carbon Laptops After Loose Screw Causes Major Issues
According to BleepingComputer, Lenovo is recalling thousands of ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptops. The recall is being issued due to a loose screw within the device. It may sound a bit dramatic but one loose screw can cause quite the problem. Due to the unfastened screw, there are concerns of the devices overheating and catching on fire.
Those impacted were manufactured between December of 2016 to October of 2017. It is being estimated 78,000 faulty units were sold in the U.S., and another 5,500 in Canada.
In order to properly identify if your Lenovo ThinkPad has been recalled, the company has set up a website where users can enter their serial number and determine if they need to contact a Lenovo representative. This isn’t the first time Lenovo had to issue a product recall due to fire hazards. The company issued a recall for ThinkPad Notebook devices in March of 2014. A year later, they expanded the recall to all ThinkPad Notebooks that were shipped between February 2010 and June 2012. The number of devices recalled was estimated at 150,000 in North America alone.
