AerCap, World’s Largest Aircraft Leasing Company, Falls Victim to Ransomware Attack

AerCap, a major aircraft leasing company, has confirmed a ransomware attack by an emerging cybercrime group called ‘Slug.’

The intrusion occurred on January 17, as reported in a Form 6-K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

AerCap asserted control over its IT systems and has no financial losses. While the company notified law enforcement promptly, it is still investigating whether any data was compromised.
