LA Medical Center Infected With Ransomware
Pacific Alliance Medical Center, located in Los Angeles California, suffered a ransomware attack in mid-June of 2017. It is because of this attack, concerns of a data breach have risen. With the hackers having access to the medical center’s systems, it is possible they had visibility to patient files including names, social security numbers and demographic information. Although strong evidence of data theft has not been reported, Pacific Alliance Medical Center is doing everything they can to investigate the situation.
In regards to the ransomware attack — the medical facility regained access to their servers and decrypted the data. Officials for the medical center are not releasing if the ransom demands were met in order to regain access to their files and devices.
