On this International Women’s Day, we shine a spotlight on women making advances in their field along with identifying the inequality gaps we still need to bridge. The data on the numbers of women in cybersecurity isn’t encouraging. Updated data is scarce, and the only hard numbers we have are from 2013 where 11% of the industry was female.
But one organization is looking to improve on those details. Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) is “where the recruitment, retention and advancement of women in cybersecurity happens.” The organization has already made huge advancements in its short 9 years.
In addition to being a leader in the “alliance between trailblazers from academia, government, and industry,” the organization is also mounting it’s 8th annual Women in Cybersecurity conference. The goal is to “help organizations recruit, retain and advance women in cybersecurity — all while creating a community of engagement, encouragement, and support at a technical conference.” Registration opens June 28th, 2021.
