Cybersecurity Crisis Hits U.S. Mortgage loanDepot

Leading U.S. mortgage lender, loanDepot has confirmed that it experienced a ransomware attack resulting in data encryption.

The incident disrupted customer access to payment portals and contact services. The company is actively working to restore normal operations, involving external cybersecurity experts, and has notified relevant authorities.

While recurring automatic payments will be processed with delays, new payments through the servicing portal are currently impossible.

PC Matic‘s Application Allowlisting is the most effective cybersecurity security software solution to prevent ransomware.

Additionally, users enjoy the advantages of a VPN for online freedom, premium identity theft protection, bank and credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, and 100% USA-based phone support.

The extent of the breach is still under investigation, and it is unclear which ransomware group is responsible. Given the potential exposure of sensitive customer data, affected individuals are cautioned about phishing and identity theft risks.

This incident follows loanDepot’s disclosure of a data breach in May 2023. Similar cyberattacks have targeted other mortgage lenders, emphasizing the ongoing threat to financial institutions’ cybersecurity.
