A Canadian dog shelter targeted by ransomware still cannot access files…
Earlier this month, a pet shelter in Canada was hit with ransomware. Sharon McKeil reported all of her historical data for her dog shelter, which is ran out of her home, is encrypted. A ransom of $1,500 is being demanded. Currently, the shelter’s website is back up and running so operations can continue; however her data remains encrypted. Sharon is not certain if she will end up paying the ransom. Police reported there is minimal they can do in these instances, as the ransomware originates overseas and is difficult, if not impossible to trace.
