End Of Service Reminder

Microsoft 10 Version 1089

Microsoft sent out a reminder this week that version 1089 of Microsoft 10 will reach end of service next week. This means they’ll stop providing technical support, as well as bug and security fixes for newly discovered issues and vulnerabilities. They’re encouraging anyone still using this version to update.

Originally the end of service was supposed to happen in April, but to ease stress to businesses during the pandemic it was postponed.

“[W]e have delayed the scheduled end of support and servicing dates for the following products to help people and organizations focus their attention on retaining business continuity,” Microsoft stated at the time.

Updating

If you’re looking to update to Windows 10 20H2, you’ll need to update to Windows 10 1903 first. 20H2 is the October 20th, 2020 release. However, it’s not as simple as just installing the updates. You’ll also need to have the Windows 10 2004 Servicing Stack Update and KB4579311 or later installed on the device.

PC Matic will continue to protect these end of service versions.
