The city of Huber Heights determined that 5,738 individuals had their data compromised in a cyberattack over two months ago.
The findings were revealed in a report by a data mining company investigating the ransomware attack, as informed by City Manager Rick Dzik.
The city’s insurance provider will contact those affected, and credit monitoring services will be offered free of charge to 2,038 individuals who had sufficient information taken to require further monitoring. The city council has authorized up to $800,000 for recovery operations, including rebuilding the cyber network. The equipment is expected to be on-site, and the network is anticipated to be rebuilt within 120 days.
