Pinal County Attorney’s Office in Arizona was hit with ransomware this week…
County Attorney Lando Voyles reported his office was hit with CryptoLocker, a known ransomware virus, earlier this week. It is reported that over 64,000 files have been corrupted. Mr. Voyles made reports to 12 News, he has no intention to pay the ransom, and others in his office are working diligently to restore the systems themselves with their backup data. It is believed the office should be back to functioning at normal capacity by next week.
UPDATE: June 15, 2016 – Pinal County Attorney’s Office is back up and functioning as normal. According to 12 News, their IT department was able to successfully restore their systems and no ransom amount was paid. The office is currently looking for alternative security software in hopes that this will not occur again.
