St. Vincent Pallotti High School, located in Laurel, Maryland is taking cyber security prevention seriously with the deployment of PC Matic Pro’s application whitelist technology. Prior to the switch, the school was using Bitdefender, which used a traditional blacklist methodology to identify malware threats. School officials began to understand, this level of protection was not enough against today’s cyber threats. Their full testimonial can be read below:
Who is St. Vincent Pallotti High School?
St. Vincent Pallotti High School is the oldest coeducational, Catholic, secondary, college preparatory school in the Archdiocese of Washington. Founded in 1921 by the Pallottine Sisters, the school is located near the intersection of four Maryland counties: Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George’s. They attract students from over 50 different schools in these Maryland counties and the District of Columbia.
Prevention is the Key
Jerry Shipman, Director of Technology stated one of their biggest concerns is
“A trojan implanted on a computer inside our network spreading throughout the network. With so many staff and faculty using computers on our network, we are constantly being bombarded with phishing or trojan emails and users visiting infected websites. The whitelist protection used by SuperShield has been a
tremendous help in preventing infections and implantations.”
PC Matic Pro Decreases IT’s Workload
Traditional antivirus has gaping flaws that cause IT to be in a constant state of remediation. Removing infections and wiping out devices to return to a normal state. PC Matic Pro’s approach focuses on prevention to not only keep devices more secure but lower the workload on IT. Shipman states,
“… without the whitelist feature of PC Matic Pro the tech department would be overwhelmed. Our tech support for removing a Virus or Trojan from our computers has been greatly reduced.”
