PC Matic and PC Matic PRO, the company’s primary products, are advanced security solutions that implement application allowlisting technology as its primary method of malware detection. This methodology has been proven far more effective in proactive detection of malware attacks, compared to the archaic blacklist approach.
With application allowlisting, only trusted programs are allowed to execute. All others that have not been tested and deemed safe, will not run. The user, if they wish to truly run the software, can go into advanced mode to allow the software to run. Or the user can wait, as all blocked applications are sent to our malware research team and categorized as either safe or malicious within 4-24 hours.
This approach eliminates the threat of polymorphic viruses, advanced persistent threats (APTs), and has been incredibly effective against cyber attacks and ransomware. Read more about the ransomware pandemic and how to prevent ransomware attacks.
Ransomware has taken our world by storm, with ransom attacks increasing almost 500% from 2016 to 2020 and damages from ransomware expected to reach over 20 billion dollars by 2021 - 2022. It is time for a change in the security software industry. I have continued to think about what is missing, and what we need to do better. I came to the conclusion there is not enough emphasis on detection rates. How can one determine the effectiveness of their security solution if malware detection rates are not being provided? They can’t. It’s time to shift the industry’s focus to what really matters. By increasing the awareness on detection rates, security solution providers will be forced to do better. They will be forced to adopt alternative ways to prevent malware attacks, and keep consumer data secure.
In Virus Bulletin’s Reactive and Proactive (RAP) test, PC Matic scored a 99.9% malware detection rating. PC Matic was also tested by AV-Test in 2018, which resulted in 99% detection of real world and 0-day malware samples.
Millions of consumers have benefited from our software, and we have continued to build upon that success by expanding PC Matic Pro, our cloud-based product, into educational institutions, businesses, non-profit organizations, and government facilities.
We’re a successful and profitable cybersecurity company, and although we don’t need cash to operate and grow, we believe we can do so faster and more strategically with an infusion of cash.
We’re excited about some of the milestones we have reached:
