Purpose: hpqtra08.exe is normally installed as part of HP all-in-one printer, scanner, copier devices driver and software installation. It creates an tray bar icon for quick access to all-in-one diagnostics. It is a non-essential process and it is up to user discretion whether to disable. If disabled the buttons like scan in the "all-in-one" will stop work. However if you never use this it's safe to disable. It does not stop scan work, just the button in the multi functional. This application can be disabled from the Startup programs by going into msconfig and removing the checkbox from the hpqtra08.exe entry in the Startup tab.

hpqtra08.exe uses excessive system and memory resources with no corresponding benefit. Applications such as these should be disabled to improve overall system performance.
