12/31/2012 2:26:48 AM 10 Years is a long life for a Home Desk Top Computer. I have upgraded it 4 times in the last 10 years. I have squeezed every ounce of use and taxed this computer to the max, and it has been very reliable, and has never flinched. Old? Yes! Slow, Yes. But it has been there when I needed it most. I spent over $3,500.00 on this computer, and have added so $850.00 worth of upgrades and added software. I know that I have asked as much from this computer as it is capable of performing. I have reached the theroitical limits of the processor, and I know it is time for a new computer. Due to economic circumstances I cannot afford to get a new home PC. But I am researching what to get. I would be greatful for any advice you have. As for this computer I am going to load Windows 7 in the near future.

9/13/2010 5:20:04 PM Ever since MSN Windows Live ID/Hotmail started their "network" of friends around March 2010, I can't get certain email because they say "this is not your friend". I didn't join Windows Live ID-I always sign in though regular MSN. I don't have a Hotmail account, but my e-mail page is set up to their new configurations and I am now getting pornographic "won't you be my friend" emails with pictures in my inbox. It's amess. MSN technicians are never able to access my computer since 3/2009, when they deleted Dell.net, MSN 8., MSN 9.5 trying to restore MSN Explorer so I could download antispyware that MSN said I had to install- I bought the CD and it still wouldn't install because there is an old e-mail stuck in the computer from when I first bought it. The old e-mail was [email protected]; MSN customer service in 2003, made me change my e-mail address to [email protected] so I could get 6 months of free MSN Internet access for buying a brand new Dell Dimension 8250 XP. I LOVE this computer. I asked Dell to give me a computer that was loaded with everything so I would never have to buy another one; I was and remain on physical disability and cannot sit at the computer for too long because my back and hips and legs,etc, are a mess. I am a retired RN, and Nurse Psychotherapist (Provider for Magellan Health Care)and have access to Dell Premier Web site. I haven't even used the programs in here much, if ever due to my worsening condition. But I want to keep this Fine machine up and running for as long as I am. I never even got Broadband yet to use the telephone modem;I didn't quite understand what it was in 2002; now there are web cams. I like my privacy, and don't have that either. I don't belong to any social networking groups like Facebook, etc, and don't want to. I am very angry at MSN/Windows Live ID/Hotmail for making choices for me-messenger has never worked because it was looking for [email protected]. They also download stuff now on "Updates" and sometimes you can see what it is, and sometimes you can't. So I'm glad that I finally was able to get the CD sent to me from Dell (I just ordered it 9/2010, and installed it today-9/13/10. Thank you very much for reading this and protecting my Dell. Maren Junk - when I clicked Get Started, the scan started then. I have not registered this yet. Activation # is Z227s-JPWXP-PPKTD-RU4ZE. tHANKS AGAIN!

3/27/2010 8:10:08 AM Being it's over 7 years old, it runs great. The two times I have had to reload, it was due to my own errors of messing around with the registry. Luckily, I am pretty tech savvy & was able to do a system reload without having to take it to a professional with no problems; just the time consuming reloading of updates after the fact.

11/21/2009 6:43:37 PM I'm very pleased with this Dell overall, I'm an engineer and I paid heavily for top of the line initially and it paid off in the long run. I've beat the Hell out of this computer, upgraded, degraded, subgrade, and it has been great. The time has come to upgrade to a quad core for streaming heavy video but I would like to hold on to this as a back up.

5/30/2010 2:56:24 AM The ONLY reason this system runs slow is because of Anti-virus software that's CURRENTLY (last year or so) available free or otherwise from AGV to Avast. I unload the anti-virus program and the thing runs fine. Yes I only have a 1/2 gig of RAM, but I know this. I defrag and use Crap Cleaner religiously before I got this tune up kit - that works for a while...Can u help? AGV made my system come to a halt. Now I have Avast and starting to experience the same - they're in Chekezlovakia so good luck to me!

8/24/2010 5:15:04 PM I purchased System Mechanic, which has not repaired my computer as it promised. I saw your ad on tv, and decided to give you a try. To tell you the truth, your program, like all programs recently, did not load properly. I am hoping that PC Matic can correct what is wrong with my computer. I think that System Mechanic prevented the scan you just did from performing properly. If you can promise to fix my computer, I will remove System Mechanic, and buy your product instead. My computer is way too slow, and freezes constantly. System Mechanic seem to have just made the problem worse. Also, nothing loads properly. I did not uncheck benchmarks, it was unchecked when the scan started, and my computer would not allow me to check it. Please check benchmarks. I really cannot tell you if I am satified, or unsatified with your product, since it has not done anything yet.

11/15/2009 7:34:29 PM After hitting the Turn Off button (via keyboard) to shut down the system, svchst is still running in the background and always displays a popup stating that the process is being ended (I can hit end now or cancel or do nothing until it ultimately shuts down). Also, I keep getting a windows update message stating that I need to reinstall a .NET 1.1 security upgrade which always fails. I've contacted MS about this and we tried a few things (I just removed .NET 1.1 again) to no avail. This box is SO slow!!! I went to the dell site to see how I can upgrade ram and they basically suggested that I buy a new box instead. (this one has sdram) Constantly running out of virtual memory and did I mention how SLOW this pc runs?
